The first ten sets of the Baby Big Five represent the beginning of the journey — the original sculptures from which the entire limited series was born.

Each piece was individually sculpted, moulded, and refined by hand, carrying the raw texture, experimentation, and creative energy of the artist’s earliest process.

These early editions bear subtle variations and surface details that were later refined or adjusted, making them artistically and historically significant within the full 100-set collection.

Every sculpture in Series 1–10 carries the mark of its pioneering stage — before the moulds began to wear and before production methods were streamlined.

Because of their place at the origin of the edition, these pieces are regarded as “founders’ works” — rarer, more personal, and closer to the artist’s hand. For collectors, Series 1–10 stand as the most authentic expression of the Baby Big Five vision and are therefore valued at a premium tier within the full series.

Unlike a simple coat of paint, this finish is achieved through a multi-stage layering process designed to give the sculpture depth and a sense of age:

Deep Toning: A dark base layer is applied to settle into the recessed areas of the sculpture. This creates natural shadows in the fur and the deep crevices, providing immediate anatomical “weight.”

Metallic Bronzing: High points and muscular ridges are hand-rubbed with a rich bronze pigment. This captures the light, giving the piece the cold, heavy appearance of a traditional foundry casting while remaining a unique, hand-worked original.
